Next up is the need for something glamorous in winter! Who doesn't love a little bit of luxury to spice up their party outfit and what better than the new Opulence trend? This look as seen at Roberto Cavalli consists of furs and lavish brocade and leopard print and embellishment. I think the best way to tackle this particular trend is with a simple sequinned blouse or dress. It is the most gorgeous thing for a party just with tailored trousers and heels.
This one is from Topshop at £65 and looks so delicate and vintage. I adore it! The deep french navy is perfect to wear with black and the embellishment eliminates any need for jewellery. Just wear with black cigarette pants (Wishlist 2...) and some pointy heels (feature on Winter Shoes coming up) and you have the perfect look for a Christmas party.
Next up is the seasons hottest hue Red. Red has such a wide appeal (see my article Well Red...) and is ideal to get you noticed wherever you may go. Red hits can vary from a red tee under a blazer with jeans or an all out red dress. Whatever you do just make sure you get that punch of red be it scarlet or tomato.
My pick would be this beautiful dress from Whistles at £135. Yes, it is rather costly but I think the cut looks like it could cost ten times that! I also love how you could work this for day with a simple blazer and tights and glam it up for night with some simple heels and statement jewellery and suddenly you are the belle of the ball! I also love the tomato colour- the orangey red makes it ideal for trans-seasonal styling and it is vibrant enough to work for summers to come. A great buy!
Also... Watch out for Whistles' drop of the Selena skater dress. The dress is to be the most coveted high street dress of the season available in cream, black and red. It is a bandage dress with 3/4 sleeves which sculpts your body beautifully clinging to the waist then flaring out in a lovely skater shape.
Next on my wishlist would be my favourite bag of the season- The Satchel. Other bags are making a breakthrough this season like the Celine bag that has taken the fashion world by storm and the ladylike boxy bags but my pick is the satchel. Obviously this trend has taken its cue from the Mulberry Alexa (the most gorgeous bag ever!) inspired by Alexa Chung it is a cross between the famous Bayswater and the mens Briefcase. However there have been a million high street copies since Alexa came on the scene. I recently got the Alexa Sparkle Tweed bag and it is my favourite item in my wardrobe. I love it! Try Topshop and Vintage stores for versions!
Last but not least tap into my favourite trend this season- Leopard! Everywhere was doing it from Mulberry to Dolce & Gabbana. Tap into the trend in a bag or a pair of shoes or go for a flirty blouse to keep the look classy.
This pretty little Topshop blouse is perfect for getting the trend right but still looking elegant. It is £28 and perfect with a pair of tailored black or camel trousers and heels. When styling think Brigitte Bardot for a sexy take and pair with feline inspired eyeliner flicks.
