"Try it with a black jacket?" "But it's navy..."
We've all heard this conversation. The age old "Black and Navy is a no-no" mantra has burdened fashion for way too long now and it really is ever so limiting. The truth of the matter, however, is that black and navy can actually work beautifully together looking so expensive and so chic. Just look at the Céline show for A/W 2011, a black leather top paired with a conservative french navy skirt was the most coveted look of the show and something we need to adopt! So mix up textures - try lace and wool, leather and silk, sequin and matte- and shades to get the perfect twist on the trend for you!
Try subtle, simple sophistication by throwing your classic black blazer over a navy shift dress with a colourful accessory or just work a navy blouse with black skinnies. The possibilities are endless for this combination and it could be just the thing to spice up a tired old wardrobe!
Here are a few outfits that I put together to show you how to work the trend for any occasion on a budget!
